About hand engraving —
WHAT IS HAND ENGRAVING AND HOW DOES IT WORK?
Hand engraving is the process of carving a design into a solid surface (most popular is glass) by hand. After I receive your enquiry the first thing I do is to do a draft of the design. This sets the mood for the piece, helps me work out how the engraving will look best on the product and make sure the design feels balanced and beautiful together with any existing decorations (e.g. labels, the shape of the product). I then engrave the design by hand using a hand-held engraving drill, leaving a momentous and luxurious impression. After the engraving is completed it can be filled with gold or silver if desired.
WOULD HAND ENGRAVING BE VERY LOUD AND OBTRUSIVE AT MY EVENT?
The hand engraving tool I use has a brushless motor which means it’s much quieter than many larger engraving machines. The drill does produce a bit of noise but it isn’t very loud or obtrusive by any means. As it’s portable I can easily bring it to on-site events.
Can you add a colour to the engraving?
Yes, I can add gold or silver to the engraved design. It doesn’t work on all materials and I wouldn’t recommend it for anything that will be heavily used or washed as it may wear off over time. Let me know if you are interested in a filling colour in your enquiry and I can advice on if it works well for the material.
Is the end product permanent?
Yes, engraving produces a beautiful everlasting carving on the product. But I would recommend not adding any metallic filling to the design for anything that will be heavily used and washed as this may come off over time.
